Online visa and passport portals are strict about photo size, dimensions and file type. Before you start, read the official requirements for your application. Rules differ by country and change over time, so do not rely on a blog post for the exact numbers.
Prepare the photo
- Use a plain, evenly lit background and a straight, clear face.
- Crop the photo around your head and shoulders with Image Crop.
- Open PixelPerfect Image Resizer and enter the pixel width and height the portal requires.
- Choose the required format, usually JPG.
Meet the file-size limit
If the portal wants less than a certain size in KB, use the quality slider in the resizer, or run the file through Image Compressor.
Common reasons for rejection
- Wrong dimensions or file type
- File too large or too small
- Shadows, filters or a busy background
- A stretched or distorted face
