WhatsApp shows profile pictures as a circle, and asks you to crop to a square. A tall or wide photo loses its sides or its top and bottom.
The fix: make it square first
- Open PixelPerfect Image Resizer.
- Upload your photo.
- Set the width and height to the same value, for example 800 x 800.
- Use a background colour so the photo is padded rather than cut, if the tool offers it for your format.
- Download and set it as your DP.
If the result looks stretched, the resize mode is distorting the shape. Crop it to a square with Image Crop instead, keeping the part you care about in the centre.
Remember the circle: keep faces and text away from the corners.
