Based on the US Department of State digital image requirements. The embassy, consulate or agency handling your case decides whether a photo is accepted.

Before you upload

DV entries are checked by software before a person ever sees them, so a wrong shape or oversize file simply gets the entry flagged.
Photos for each family member listed on the entry must follow the same rules, so prepare one square file per person.
Do not use a filter, retouching or a photo of a printed photo. Duplicated or altered photos are a known problem on DV entries.
Read the official instructions for the current DV program year before submitting; deadlines and rules are published by the State Department.
